Sarah Palin and her campaign in 57 of 58 states!

Earlier today on the Mark Davis show on WBAP, Mark mentioned a documentary being filmed by a reporter who had lost his job earlier this year when he tried to expose the Chosen One for what he was.

This is not newsworthy in as much as this has happened so many times already. What IS newsworthy is how what he has discovered in his filming.

After admitting to voting for Obama for President, this man asked the voters some very simple questions, and nearly everyone got it wrong. (Admittedly, there were perhaps a few people who got the answers right, but you will see the gist here).

When asked who controlled the Senate and the House, all respondents proclaimed "The Republicans", either directly, after hemming and hawing or after a downright embarrassed laugh to try to lighten the moment for them.

When asked which of the four candidates running had a pregnant teen-age daughter, they all nailed as Sarah Palin. Great job! You're 1 for 2!

When asked who received $150,000 in wardrobe attire, they nailed Sarah Palin.

When asked who stated they had visited 57 states and had one left to go, except Hawaii and Alaska, everyone nailed Sarah Palin again. (if you forgot who actually said this, follow this link: 57 states in the U.S.)

What would the media have said if President Bush had said that? There would have been talk of leaving Iraq since he doesn't even know how many states there are. And what about if Sarah had said that? All kinds of terrible statements of ignorance are being credit to her when she said nothing to deserve any of them!

Isn't that frightening? Is it any wonder we don't have some of America's best and brightest runnign for office? How can these people be allowed to vote? I understand if you are confused by some of the legaleze in some of the propositions, or even if you do not FULLY understand where a candidate stands on certain issues, (they do vacillate at times), but when you are so fundamentally ignorant about some basic information and its relevance to the election, I have to wonder how we can allow people to continue to vote.

One of the paradigms of freedom is people can choose to be as ignorant as they wish, or even as stupid as they wish, simply because they want to.

For example: While I would never do it, but would love to break the jaw of someone burning the U.S. flag, it is their freedom to practice this idiocy, and TRY to denigrate the flag. The flag is never denigrated in my mind, but the individual doing it certainly is diminished in my mind! It is their right, no matter how inflammatory it may be to you, to burn the flag.

But how can this be? How is it we are so out of touch with reality we actually think people not in power ARE in power? How is it we think someone made a gaff when it was actually OUR guy?

I think it is simply put as "Perception is Reality". This is a saying in sales which means basically if the customer sees no value in a product, it doesn't matter how great the presenation was, how much the product would actually answer their needs, or how affordable it is. They see no value, therefore, the product is worthless, or they can do without it.

The Republicans were victims of this notion on the part of the American voter- that and most voting for Obama were simply wanting a change.

Towards the end of the campaign, Senator McCain failed to point out the obvious (at least what is obvious to those of us with a clue) that with the House and Senate virtually in the control of the Democrats, a Democratic President could be a potential problem for our government because of the lack of checks and balances. We all know what happened when Carter was President- the Dems controlled all 3 arms of the Federal government, and our economy crashed in dramatic fashion.

Reagan came to office, reached agreements with Tip Oneill, and successfully led this country from the brink of depression into one of the most profitable periods of the American economy, which even outlasted President Bush #41, and his successor, President Clinton (though he did try hard to run it off the tracks by breaking up Microsoft and telling technologically driven companies their intellectual properties would be public domain rather than the people responsible for developing them).

I feel this perception was perpetuated by the media. Though Fox news ratings are on the rise and the former "Big 3" ratings are falling, I feel media bias finally won one for their guy. Recent studies showed negative campaign news coverage was as much as 3 times for McCain as for Obama. Even Chris Mathews was reported (and recorded) to have said it was his job to make the Presidency of Obama succeed. Youll notice he tries to hide under the auspice of being a journalist, and then says his JOB is to make the Presidency succeed.

Sorry Chris, you can't have it both ways, but as long as he works for the Never Been Conservative station, he will never be called to the carpet. Unfortunately, too many people will drink the Kool-Aid and be duped into another fiasco.

Whatever happens in the near future, one thing is for certain- the media will be slow to criticize their chosen one!

Let's be Personal, Gordon Sinclair, June 5, 1973

The following is a tribute to America, written by a Canadian who apparently was more proud of our nation than many of our political leaders and celebrities. The next time one of them attempts to put their finger in the eye of America, tell them what you think. Tell them Gordon sent ya!

Enjoy:

"The Americans" - Original Script

"LET'S BE PERSONAL" Broadcast June 5, 1973 CFRB, Toronto, Ontario

Topic: "The Americans"

The United States dollar took another pounding on German, French and British exchanges this morning, hitting the lowest point ever known in West Germany. It has declined there by 41% since 1971 and this Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least-appreciated people in all the earth.

As long as sixty years ago, when I first started to read newspapers, I read of floods on the Yellow River and the Yangtze. Who rushed in with men and money to help? The Americans did.

They have helped control floods on the Nile, the Amazon, the Ganges and the Niger. Today, the rich bottom land of the Misssissippi is under water and no foreign land has sent a dollar to help. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy, were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of those countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When the franc was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When distant cities are hit by earthquakes, it is the United States that hurries into help... Managua Nicaragua is one of the most recent examples. So far this spring, 59 American communities have been flattened by tornadoes. Nobody has helped.

The Marshall Plan .. the Truman Policy .. all pumped billions upon billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now, newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent war-mongering Americans.

I'd like to see one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplanes.

Come on... let's hear it! Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tristar or the Douglas 107? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all international lines except Russia fly American planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or women on the moon?

You talk about Japanese technocracy and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy and you find men on the moon, not once, but several times ... and safely home again. You talk about scandals and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everyone to look at. Even the draft dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, most of them ... unless they are breaking Canadian laws .. are getting American dollars from Ma and Pa at home to spend here.

When the Americans get out of this bind ... as they will... who could blame them if they said 'the hell with the rest of the world'. Let someone else buy the Israel bonds, Let someone else build or repair foreign dams or design foreign buildings that won't shake apart in earthquakes.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name to you 5,000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble.

Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbours have faced it alone and I am one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles.

I hope Canada is not one of these. But there are many smug, self-righteous Canadians. And finally, the American Red Cross was told at its 48th Annual meeting in New Orleans this morning that it was broke.

This year's disasters .. with the year less than half-over… has taken it all and nobody...but nobody... has helped.

The story behind the speech

On June 5, 1973, Gordon Sinclair sat up in bed in Toronto and turned on his TV set. The United States had just pulled out of the Vietnamese War which had ended in a stalemate - a war fought daily on TV, over the radio and in the press. The aftermath of that war resulted in a world-wide sell-off of American investments, prices tumbled, the United States economy was in trouble. The war had also divided the American people, and at home and abroad it seemed everyone was lambasting the United States.

He turned on his radio, twisted the dial and turned it off. He picked up the morning paper. In print, he saw in headlines what he had found on TV and radio - the Americans were taking a verbal beating from nations around the world. Disgusted with what he saw and heard, he was outraged!

At 10:30, on his arrival at CFRB to prepare his two pre-noon broadcasts, he strode into his office and "dashed-off" two pages in 20 minutes for LET'S BE PERSONAL at 11:45 am, and then turned to writing his 11:50 newscast that was to follow. At 12:01 pm, the script for LET'S BE PERSONAL was dropped on the desk of his secretary who scanned the pages for a suitable heading and then wrote "Americans"" across the top and filed it away. The phones were already ringing.

Gordon Sinclair could not have written a book that could have had a greater impact in the world than his two-page script for THE AMERICANS. A book should have been written on the events that followed. But, no one at CFRB, including Sinclair himself, could have envisioned the reaction of the people of the United States - from presidents - state governors - Congress - the Senate - all media including TV, radio, newspapers, magazines - and from the "ordinary" American on the street. Nor, could have the Canadian government - stunned by the response to what has come to be regarded as one of Canada's greatest public relations feats in the history of our relations with the United States of America.

Veterans Day, November 11, 2008

An auspicious day today, this Veteran’s Day. We just saw the first African American President elected last week as the country is entering the throes of a recession, with global implications. Bad news just seems to continue to pile on as the global economy has been indelibly affected by the mortgage meltdown which started here.

As we look to the future, we pause today to remember the countless men and women, past and present, who selflessly surrendered their rights, their comforts and their personal liberty for those of us fortunate enough to be born here as an American. Most Americans, while they honor and revere these men and women, the humblest servants of freedom, will not, and can not fully fathom or appreciate what Veterans have done, are doing and will do in the future for our security and freedom. Words cannot adequately explain the hardships they endure. The angst of the unknown, the bitter taste of fear in the back of their parched throats. The sting of sweat in their eyes as they stand post in some far-away land. The long arduous days frought with danger. The sleepless nights on patrol or manning a fighting position. The constant change of duties and environment, usually hostile. The pain of missing loved ones they left behind and the time they miss their children as they grow so quickly. The pride of loving their brothers and sisters in arms with a love and steadfast dedication none but them can understand. Too often they are the pawns in political struggles in Washington. They endure these hardships not because they enjoy it, or even want to. They do it because they are called to serve something greater than themselves. They would no sooner complain about their circumstances than they would abandon a comrade in need. Oh sure, they may commiserate together, but more often than not, they get together and celebrate what they HAVE together, and remember the joys of home, longing for their return.

All these things they carry with a solemn pride, and an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, against all enemies, foreign and domestic. An oath all hold dear and take very seriously. An oath they enter into FREELY, as a volunteer, and periodically will re-affirm this oath on the event of their re-enlistment. Perhaps this is why so many of us cannot understand how someone, grievously wounded, feels an over- whelming amount of guilt because his buddies are still in danger and he is not there. He can’t wait to get back to them, even if he has lost a leg. Courage. Is there a greater display of courage than someone wounded so badly, so as to put him so close to death, but all he can think about is getting back to his unit? I would do anything for my family; most people would, but few can conceive doing it for someone they only know professionally. Would you run into a burning office to save your boss or a co-worker, knowing you might not make it out? Few of us can say yes. Yet that is exactly what a soldier does every day in a combat environment. To be out there, on the cutting edge, to make a difference. To not let his buddies down. To sustain the mission and achieve victory. That is what makes a soldier do his duty. To win- because he knows the price of failure is too heavy a price to pay.

I chuckle to myself when I see Katie Couric or Diane Sawyer ask incredulously how a wounded soldier could possibly WANT to go back? These wonderful reporters with their pre-conceived notions about the war, about what is right and about the President. They just cannot begin to understand the word that describes what binds these soldiers together: COMMITMENT.

Commitment comes in many forms- commitment to your spouse to forsake ALL OTHERS, commitment to your job to do your best, commitment to your God to keep Him holy and give Him all honor and blessings, a commitment to be the best American you can be.

Unfortunately, commitment too often is a punchline in a joke: men are afraid of commitment. Ha ha. "They're getting a divorce." "Oh, that's too bad." Guess they weren’t committed to each other, huh? Isn’t it amazing how we can enter into a commitment so easily when everything is going our way and we are comfortable? Anyone can do easy. But what happens when there is a bump in the road? It’s the challenging things in life that are most rewarding and give a true measure of a person. This is the fundamental reason people who lay their lives on the line for people they don’t know have such a strong bond with each other.

Say what you will about President Bush. I think he has been judged extremely harshly. And in some instances, for good reason. His fiscal policies have allowed the government to expand at the rate of a supernova, lending in part to the economic crisis. But he entered into a very difficult situation, and has led us through one of the darkest hours of our nation, and has since kept us safe. He led from the front and set the tone, staying committed to winning and completing the missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Now, his successor has been clamoring for an exit from Iraq for a political win and show he is a uniter. A uniter of what? Nations overseas who have and always will hate us? Hate us for our wealth? I want our nation to be revered by all, but if you think for 2 seconds I give a tinkers damn about what some P.O.S. socialist from Europe thinks of America, think again.

Mr Obama, if you want to unite something, unite the United States of America again! Support our troops, and commit to them your steadfast support and vision for a strong defense of our nation and ideals Mr Obama. Show those of us who believe the Constitution is a work of art, not a living, breathing document that got it all wrong, that we are the beacon of light for the rest of the wordl. Stop apologizing for our position in the world. Start defending all Americans, just as the select few soldiers we celebrate today defend you.

Commit to the soldiers coming home they did not sweat in vain and did not lose brothers and sisters in vain for a cause you are so seemingly prepared to abandon. Commit to them you will not leave Iraq until they are good and ready to defend themselves.

An auspicious day, indeed. May God Bless us and keep us, may He make his face shine down on the United States, and may God also shine his blessings on the new President to guide him through the challenges that await him on inauguration day.

As always, remember this: If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in English, thank a veteran. Not just today, but any day you see one.

My thanks to all of you out there who have served, and those who continue to serve. I ask for a special blessing for you and your loved ones.

U.S.A. This We'll Defend
U.S.N. Semper Fortis- Always Strong
U.S.M.C. Semper Fidelis- Always Faithful
U.S.C.G. Semper Paratus- Always Prepared
U.S.A.F. Above All

And just in case you missed that- yeah, the ARMY has the same initials as the United States! Hooowuh!

President Sarah Palin in 2012?

Not unless she gets with the program! When she returns to Anchorage, she and her family must have a frank conversation- is she selfless enough to want to serve her country admirably at the highest level, or will she be content to continue serving with distinction as Governor of the largest state in the union.

Whatever her choice, she will be successful at it. She accomplished much in her first term as Governor of Alaska, but apparently it just wasn't enough for the American people to see someone achieve so much in so short a time- all while raising a family and giving birth to a special needs child.

My wife and I have discussed what we would do in her situation, and I must confess, I don't think we could have handled it, let alone run for office, or even more for the Vice Presidency. Sarah is an intelligent, driven woman who brings a lot to the table (though McCain staffers are now dragging her through the mud saying syncophantic things like she doesn't know Africa is a continent and not a country. Please.) with her common sense and Katie bar the doors approach to getting things done. She is loved by her constituents, and I think she wold be equally loved as a V.P. if she has the chance.

And, oh, by the way, she is beautiful.

The media and feminists took an instant dislike to this (Cosmopolitan?) woman because she seems to have it all: Beauty (inner and outward), intelligence, presence, a sense of humor, a successful wife, mother, governor and hunter. I guess I can understand their dislike of her- is there ANYTHING she can't do well?

This rage was so over the top when she was attacked repeated by the press and celebrities like the infantile Matt Damon for her lack of experience, or for her wardrobe.

Matt Damon was on a t.v. interview when he was quoted as saying "I think there's a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that's a really scary thing... I think the pick was made for political purposes... Do the actuary tables and there's a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn't survive his first term and it'll be President Palin... It's like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, 'oh, I'm just a hockey mom'... and she's facing down President Putin... It's totally absurd... it's a really terrifying possibility... I need to know if she really think that dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago. I want to know that, I really do. Because she's gonna have the nuclear codes."

Actuary tables? Does this Einstein KNOW what an actuary table is? This is the same rocket scientist who thought scripts from the likes of Stuck on You, Jersey Girl and Eurotrip looked like good ideas. An actuary table is nothing more than an average probability of someone dying based on their age. This AVERAGE, is based on the population of the people being surveyed. Have you looked at Americans lately? We are obese, hypertensive and stressed out. Does that sound like Senator McCain? I don't think so.

And as far as the wardrobe goes, WHO CARES? If the RNC decides to gift her a wardrobe of $150,000, that is a part of the campaign budget. Where was the outcry when "Slick Willie" landed at LAX, shutting down a major portion of it while he got a haircut on Air Force 1? How much did THAT cost? What about when the "Breck Girl" John Edwards was getting $800 haircuts? What could POSSIBLY cost $800 for ANYONE's haircut, let alone a man's?

The bottom line, unfortunately, Americans are either sexist, or, just want someone with some chutzpah to deliver the goods which comes only after extensive service in the logic free zone of the District of Columbia, a.k.a. the puzzle palace.

I for one, hope Sarah follows the path to the White House, and helps lead this country back from whatever the weenie liberals do in the next 2-4 years. If she chooses to not pursue a career in D.C. as a Congresswoman, I fear we have seen the last of a truly gifted woman. She will fade into obscurity like Geraldine Ferraro, and that would be a real tragedy.

Congratulations America- You MADE History

Congratulations, America- you did it! You just elected the first Arabic President of the United States. I say you dod, because my family and I certainly did not! The most liberal Senator with no experience whatsoever from the great state of Illinois, will be our commander in chief in just under 3 months now. He has been influenced much of his adult life by the likes of William Ayers, a known and unrepentant domestic terrorist, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, an open anti Semite, anti-American hate monger, and many others brought out during his successful campaign. I have to hand it to him- he really did it!

Not that Senator John McCain was all that difficult to defeat- he wasn't. He has become a lot more docile and Senatorial than he was 6-7 years ago. What I saw from McCain during the Presidential campaign was a distinguisehed gentleman who was too accustomed to "reaching across the aisle" to the opposite party and denouncing the Republicans if he felt they were wrong.

Senator Obama put this deal to bed several months ago when he refuted the nay sayers and beat Hilary soundly for the Democratic nomination. So many experts said he couldn't do it, he didn't have enough experience, but with a little popular press for the anointed one (did I say a little?) he was able to circle his wagons and move on to the Presidential campaign. Perhaps his distinhuished friends and neighbors provided him with the necessary muscle to move him into position and Hilary out of position. We may never know.

Senator Obama's plane with the previous flag on the tail

Where McCain failed was not in picking Palin as his running mate, but in a couple of other areas:

1. He didn't let his pit bull off the leash until it was too late. People identified with Sarah and Todd, but they never got to know her very well as the McCain handlers kept her under wraps for weeks. McCain could have gone on trying to tell the Americans why Obama CAN NOT and SHOULD NOT be President, while Sarah could tell us why he was different from Bush. Even Charlie Gibson had to ask where the American Flag lapel pin was!

    2. McCain was too senatorial in his handling of the debates and the other stump speeches. Trying to hammer home Obama is a lover of terrorists and bigots during the economic crisis he took time out from the campaign to help pass a bailout package tells me he may have missed the mark. That is hard to imagine for a man as successful and experienced as McCain is. Perhaps he was so incredulous the American people would even ENTERTAIN this person given his strong military background, was probably more than this terrific American could fathom.

    3. Too often McCain was distracted by the media about non issues, and having to correct the record. To me, his plan was dead simple: Tax less, spend less, sanction the people responsible for the mortgage meltdown, and provide for our soldiers. Pretty simple.

    4. Where was the media attention on the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac fiasco? With so many liberal ties to these previously reliable and trustworthy entities, it was only a matter of time before a tragedy befell our investors and banks. One interview of a Congressional oversight member was lauding Fannie Mae's performance in getting people into homes far beyond their quota. QUOTA? This is not a sales position, this is a position of responsibility and caution. The distance between the American dream and a nightmare is a bureaucrat pushing for a home loan approval and squeezing someone into a home they could ill afford at half the mortgage amount. Yet Obama's buddy Daniel Mudd openly admits they should have said no more. Perhaps his compensation plan should not have been based on how many people who were APPROVED for a loan, but for how many QUALIFIED for a loan.

Had McCain succesfully tied this mill stone around the neck of Obama, this could well have been the difference. Had he called for an immediate investigation like the old fighter he used to be, he might have been able to pull this off. Had the rest of the Republican party banded together to echo this sentiment, he might have been able to pull this off.

    5. The Gentlemen's agreement to cap the amount of public monies spent on campaigning. Previously, both men publicly stated they would abide by the McCain/Feingold limitations of publlic money for campaign purposes, but the wily Obama had no intention of honring that agreement. McCain steadfastly held to his word, and it cost him the election. That is like walking in front of a truck at the crosswalk because the walk sign is lit when the truck runs you over. You may have been right, but you are going to get run over nonetheless, just like the Maverick did.

The bottom line is a lot of learning must be done from this example: Democrats, no matter what, circle the wagons and present a united front making no apologies. Republicans- did you HEAR THAT? They make no apolgies, they band together on their talking points and support each other. I think Governors Huckabee and Romney did a pretty good job of that, but not everyone else did. Case in point: How did they let Nancy Pelosi dismiss the representatives for recess when we were facing a dramatic crisis with gas prices and the mortgage market imploding? How did we let the Senate and Congress with approval ratings lower than they have ever been in history, keep seats, gain seats, AND pick up a neophyte President? Why is it the liberals are able to attract so many people based on emotions and dreams, whent he Republicans for years have been the providers of dreams and opportunitites.

But now, the wonderful liberal Democrats are in charge of nearly everything- the Senate, the House and the White House. These are the same menal midgets who have lost over $18MM on Senate dining facility, and now they have the control of a REAL budget. Can you say "Oh my gosh"?

I do applaud Obama for a well-run campaign. On a personal note, I did feel a bit of a sting in the corners of my eyes when his grandmother, who was so influential in his upbringing, missed his victory speech by a few hours. I pray she is in heaven, looking down on this man now. I also pray God is watching over him as well.
